Lookin’ for a Ma & Pa kind of place? Quiet and Tranquil? Well… ya done found it! The Roost Resort is a campground in Custer, South Dakota, that hosts 10 cozy cabins for rent with kitchenettes and all the essentials. We also have RV rental sites, 1 tent site, all nestled in nature with pine trees, deer, wild turkeys, and critters. BBQ grills, fire pits, a full bathhouse and a small playground (swing set, Horse shoe pit, & basketball hoop) for kids & adults is all included. We are just a short drive from Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, and 1.5 miles from Custer State Park. Whether you’re on your way to Sturgis, heading underground in Wind Cave National Park, experience fishing at one of the local lakes, or just stopping by for a well-deserved rest and relaxation, give us a call to start your vacation!

Our 2027 calendar is open and active and is already being booked.  If you can plan that far in advance, we got a spot for you.  Just give us a call.  Our summer operating dates for the summer of 2027 will be May 15th to October 10th.

WORK CAMPER INTEREST?  Do you have a desire to be a work camper for the summer of 2027 in the Black Hills?  Ideal fit for us would be a couple who has a travel van or a small RV (26 feet of less).  Experience in handy man work with extensive attention to detail and a cleaning background would be helpful.  Give us a call or send us an email to discuss this wonderful opportunity if you’re interested.  

SPECIAL NOTE OF INTEREST: The Roost Resort is exclusive to our registered guests only.  Because of this, we do not host non-registered guests, honoring our commitment to you, by bringing quiet and peacefulness to an all new level. 

RV CAMPERS: New for 2027: We are offering camping specials.  Stay 3 nights, get the 4th night at half price OR stay 6 nights and receive the 7th night free. Our nightly rates are for up to 4 people.  (We do not charge “lock” fees for sites).  The site you reserve when you call to book with us will be the site you get when you arrive for your vacation.  We operate on a 1st come, 1st served basis. 

Please Note: We ask that you read our POLICY and RATES pages BEFORE booking. As a guest of The Roost Resort, it is your responsibility to read and review our policies. It is also your responsibility to follow our policies while being a guest here. As owner’s of The Roost Resort, we have the right to cancel a reservation and ask you to leave the premises based upon non-compliance of such policies with no refunds given.

If you prefer to book with us on line, please send us an email (click on our contact tab).  Let us know what your looking for. RV, tent site or Cabin, your dates, and the number of people in your party. From there we will email our availability back to you.  If you’re in agreement, we will secure the deposit needed via credit card and email you back a confirmation.  We check our emails several times a day and our response time is not very long.
